Colina Serrano Project nominee in the Spanish Music Awards

The record Colina Serrano Project (ContraBaix / Universal 2009) secured a nomination for best jazz album of 2009 in the XIV Music Awards, organized by the Academy of Arts and Sciences of Music. The first record has gathered the talents of bassist Javier Colina and chromatic harmonica player Antonio Serrano gets with this nomination so much recognition by the music industry state that adds to great critical and commercial impact that has accompanied the disc from its launch last November. The winners of the fourteenth edition of the Music Awards will be unveiled on 17 February at a press conference. This is the fifth time that a work edited by Produccions ContraBaix gets a nomination for the Spanish Music Awards.

A flamenco dancer, Carmen Cortés, new addition to the roster of Produccions ContraBaix

Produccions ContraBaix expands its portfolio of artists to the international market with the recent addition of the flamenco dancer, artistic director and choreographer from Barcelona, Carmen Cortés. With over twenty years of experience, Carmen Cortés is one of the most outstanding artists who appeared on the flamenco music scene during the last few years. With her own dance company, she received good reviews both nationally and on a European scale with pieces of work such as El amor brujo, La puerta del silencio, Salomé, or La Celestina, the last one under theatrical direction of Gerardo Vera. Cortés has also
promoted and directed several productions based on a pieces of Federico García Lorca, such as Así pasen cien años, A Federico, Yerma (directed by Nuria Espert), which had her nominated for the Premios Max for theatre, or Mujeres de Lorca, her current show first staged in 2006 at the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla.

Andando (ContraBaix/Universal 2009), second album of the Colina Miralta Sambeat CMS Trio, has been recognised by magazine Jaç as finalist National Best Album at Premis Jaç 2009 which are awarded by the public vote on a website www.enderrock.cat/premis
The winners will be announced during the first quarter of 2010.

Lluís Vidal stages with a great success his Concierto para quinteto de metales y orquesta

The pianist and composer Lluís Vidal premiered at the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid last weekend of 15 to 17 January, his composition Concierto para quinteto de metales y orquesta (Concerto for brass quintet and orchestra) receiving a very good review from the audience. The piece of work was performed by the Valencian quintet Spanish Brass Luur Metals and the Orquesta Nacional de España, led by Josep Pons. The concert on Sunday 17 January was broadcast live on Radio Clásica de Radio Nacional de España and was recorded for its later television broadcast on Spanish TV.

Perico Sambeat and Colina Miralta Sambeat CMS Trio, the winners of the Award of the Asociació de Músics de Jazz de Catalunya

Perico Sambeat was a successful winner of the 12th edition at the Award Ceremony of the Asociació de Músics de Jazz i Música Moderna de Catalunya (the Association of Musicians for Jazz and Modern Music in Catalonia), celebrated on Sunday 13th December at the Sala Monasterio in Barcelona. The saxophonist, Perico Sambeat, was awarded the prizes for Best Composer and Best 2009 Record, for his Perico Sambeat Flamenco Big Band (Verve/Universal). During the same ceremony Colina Miralta Sambeat CMS Trio was awarded a prize for the Best Group of the Year, which acknowledged the quality of this band that in 2009 released its second record Andando (ContraBaix/Universal).
